Seven Secrets about Living in Skye Canyon – Northwest Las Vegas

Skye Canyon, located in the far Northwest Las Vegas Valley just north of Summerlin, is a growing master-planned community. Conveniently situated one freeway exit before the turnoff to Mount Charleston and Lee Canyon. It is the prime location where the outdoors can be explored and enjoyed. With five years of home building left to complete, there is plenty of time to find your perfect fit in this beautiful community.

The Future of Skye Canyon

When completed, Skye Canyon will consist of 1700 acres of residential neighborhoods, parks, and commercial ventures. In February of 2020, Century Communites Inc. purchased the remaining 400 acres currently being developed. Skye Canyon ranked as the 22nd best-selling master-planned community in the entire United States in 2020 if you needed proof that its growth in popularity is more than just a coincidence.

Active Lifestyle

Skye Canyon has made it part of its mission to incorporate a healthy, active lifestyle into its community. Not only do they have amazing human and dog parks, splash pads, but the pool and fitness studio are top-notch. Even during Covid, the faculty pivoted and offered what would typically be an in-person yoga class to an online forum just for residents. If you’re a runner, keep an eye out for the Annual Skye Canyon 5K/8K Road Run! Rental equipment is available at the Skye Canyon Home Finding Center, where they provide sports and recreation gear through the resident rental program. Rentals could include mountain bikes, skis, snowboards, to name a few. Lee Canyon, located on Mount Charleston, does get snow in the winter, believe it or not. And in the summertime, it is approximately 20 degrees cooler than in the valley, making it the perfect place to get a respite from the summer heat.

Amenities

There are many other amenities located within Skye Center, which is the hub of Skye Canyon. Skye Bistro, which serves up Starbucks coffee, is a great place to hang out with friends, family, and neighbors. There is outdoor seating with a fireplace, BBQ patio, meeting rooms, and everyone’s favorite free wifi. Keep in mind that due to restrictions during Covid, some of these services have been reduced or closed. Hopefully, soon they will start to reopen for all to enjoy.

Activities

If you’re looking to make seasonal eating a part of your daily life, you will not want to miss the Farmer’s Market every Thursday at 2 pm. During the current pandemic, they have instituted a drive-through approach to keep everyone socially distant. You will find the Farmer’s Market conveniently located in the east parking lot of Skye Canyon Park.

Interesting fact, if you’re looking to purchase a resale home in Skye Canyon and find one built in the first phase, you more than likely do not have a SID(Special Improvement District) tax attached to your property. That could save you some money in costs each year.

Shopping

But is there anywhere to shop? Yes, there is! Commercial ventures have opened up on Skye Canyon Parkway, with an additional fifteen acres coming in the future. Some of the offerings include Smith’s Food and Drug, Starbucks, Burger King, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Lemongrass & Lime, Club Pilates, Omelette Cafe, Vibe Salon, Canyon Pet Hospital, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Island Flavor and Café Rio, Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming, Subway, and so much more to come. There’s even a Smith’s gas station! And if you need banking services, there is a Chase Bank.
